Despina
[: en] Despina is a texture inspired by one of Italo Calvino’s invisible cities. “In invisible cities there are no recognizable cities. They are all invented cities; they are a set of many things: of memory, of desires. Despina can be reached in two ways: by ship or by camel. The city looks different to those who come from land and those who come from the sea. Each city receives its shape from the desert it opposes, and so the camel driver and the sailor see Despina, a border city between two deserts “(quoted by Italo Calvino). The windows each illuminated with a woman combing her hair and tiled courtyards on which dancers dance barefoot. The soul always lands when it wants it to be by sea or by land. In this pattern created with the shape of the tiles, you can glimpse its double, the waves of the sea , women’s hair and sand dunes.
