Autumn in New York is suggestive, parks and gardens start to change their color and the atmosphere is magic. Every corner stands out with foliage and with its colors: red, orange, yellow and brown, ready to enchant like in a romantic movie. Central Park is incredible, the eyes fill with wonder and that’s why I decided to bring you there. These textures brings you where, nowadays, we can’t go, in one of the more beautiful cities in the world and in one of the more fascinating period of the year.
We walk together in Midtown Manhattan, not far from Bryant park, in the 42nd street we find the Chanin Building, one of the main opera of Art Deco in the city.
The lower part of the building is decorated with a bas-relief made by Edward Trumbull, it’s a intertwining of flowers, leaves and shapes in Art Dèco style.
On the other side of the road we find the Chrysler Building, one of the more iconic and best known Art Deco building in the world. The characteristic metal spire, 38m high, is made by seven overlap elliptic arches and by triangular windows arranged in a radial pattern.
The inside is also an Art Deco example, walls coated with red marble in contrast with the mahogany floor. Steel decor and elevators inlaid with different color woods reminding a fan. Both the buildings were decorated by an artist, Edward Trumbull, that also made a murale in the lobby.
Two textures, one floral and the other more geometric are inspired to these buildings and to Art Deco, resuming autumnal colors of our journey through the streets of the Big apple.
